About Me

A native of Western Pennsylvania, I am thrilled to offer private voice and speech therapy services in the city where my husband and I have established roots and raised our two children. I chose speech and hearing science as a field of study while pursuing theater in 1987. As such, I have a background in both music and drama- a few of my favorite things! My career in speech-language pathology began in the area of brain injury rehabilitation for 7 years, and quickly progressed to specialized treatment of the voice and related upper airway disorders. In 1997, I joined the highly esteemed University of Pittsburgh Voice Center team, where I worked for 23 years as a voice specialist utilizing advanced research and treatment protocols. With 30 years of clinical experience, I am passionate about patient advocacy and innovative therapy for successful outcomes. Advance Voice & Speech Therapy is founded upon principles of integrity and service. My mission is to provide relevant educational instruction and attainable goals to each person I work with. My commitment to you is a personalized treatment plan that empowers you to advance in both knowledge and technique as we partner together for improved voice and speech.

“It has been my greatest privilege to work with hundreds of patients during the tenure of my career. Each one represents a unique relationship, a clinical alliance, and an individual journey to healthy voice and speech.”

– Tracey Thomas

By doing the work Tracey encouraged, I got my voice back and my progress has continued as I work with her in group therapy.”

About Advance Voice & Speech Therapy

Communication is at the heart of who we are as individuals. This uniquely created ability employs the systems of respiration, phonation, and articulation to coordinate and execute voice and speech. A problem in any of those systems can cause a significant change in the sound quality of voice or the clarity of speech. The impact of these changes is felt in both the capacity to be understood and in perceived identity. Voice and speech disorders are significant in effect for those who experience them regardless of communication style, need, or professional demand.

It is the mission of Advance Voice & Speech Therapy to remediate voice and speech disorders from a wide spectrum including both functional and physiological diagnoses. This is achieved through a vital partnership with patients who are ready to advance beyond their communication difficulty.

Advance Voice & Speech Therapy practice employs a medical treatment model with customized therapy sessions focused on individual needs. The founding principles reflect the heart of its mission to treat those seeking help for voice and speech disorders with the utmost regard for their individuality, needs, goals, and ultimate success.
